AbstractEste trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar o desempenho dos modelos do IPCC em simular o padrão climático presente e futuro da chuva sobre o Brasil. De uma forma geral, os modelos conseguem reproduzir a fase do ciclo anual climatológico da chuva (período seco e chuvoso). O comportamento futuro para cenários com alta concentração de CO2 é extremo, o modelo do Geophysical Fluid Dynamic Laboratory (GFDL) prevê um aumento da chuva sobre o Nordeste, acima do 152% de seu valor climatológico, até o final dos próximos 100 anos. Já o modelo do Hadley Center (HAD) reduz a chuva em 64%. O experimento com baixo CO2 reduz a superestimativa do GFDL no Nordeste (72,9%) e o HAD subestimatima mais sobre a Amazônia. This paper analyses the performance of the IPCC models in simulate the present and future climate pattern of the rain over Brazil. In general the models get to reproduce the phase of the annual cycle of the rain (dry and rainy period). The future behavior for sceneries with high concentration of CO2 is extreme. GFDL model shows a maximum of rains, above 152% of climatological value until the end of the next 100 years. The Hadley Center model (HAD) reduces the rain, below the 64%. The experiments with low CO2 show a decrease in the overestimates of GFDL (72,9%) over Northeast and an increase in the underestimates of HAD over Amazonia.
